Introducing the Boondocker D2 – Enhanced for Superior Sound and Effortless Playability! The Boondocker D2 is a 3-course, 4-string acoustic walking dulcimer (or dulcimer guitar) that elevates the experience for both new players and seasoned musicians. Like its predecessor, it’s typically tuned to D-A-D, allowing you to play tabs designed for the traditional Appalachian mountain dulcimer but with the familiar feel of a guitar. Thanks to the diatonic fretboard and open tuning, every note you play sounds beautiful, making it nearly impossible to hit a wrong note. Upgraded Features of the D2 Model:

A deeper body for added resonance and volume, giving the D2 a fuller, richer sound that projects beautifully.
A thinner neck for improved playability and comfort, making it easier to handle for extended playing sessions.
Separate string holes for melody strings, making string changes faster and more convenient.

The Sapele Mahogany version is crafted from solid Sapele with a 1/8" Sapele top, featuring our signature Henna-inspired engraved design. The Rosewood bridge with a Corian saddle adds to its clear, loud, and beautiful tone. Whether you’re playing alongside an acoustic guitar, cajon, or any other instrument, the D2 holds its own with a strong and vibrant sound. I’ve had my Boondocker for a little more than a month, and have thoroughly enjoyed it! Though based on the simple design of the diatonic fretboard that makes it easy for anyone to play, it is anything but a simple instrument. It’s a beautiful, well-made and high quality musical instrument.

I have owned a Seagull Merlin and played several other “stick-style” dulcimers, and while I mean no disrespect to any of these other instruments, I believe the Boondocker is a step above in design, style, fit and finish.

I was also pleased with the custom options I was able to choose. I especially appreciate the time Patrick Jaromin took to answer my MANY questions before placing my order, and working with me to have it delivered within my timeframe. I couldn’t have asked for a more pleasant buying experience.

I absolutely love my new Mahogany Boondocker. It sounds as beautiful as it look. I ordered it with G tuning so I could play in a Cigar Box Guitar group at my local senior center. It shipped out the morning after I ordered it. The craftsmanship of this little instrument is top notch!
