Each instrument ships with its recommended tuning. The dulcimer guitars are diatonic, so once they're in tune you can't play a wrong note. A clip-on tuner (we sell them in Accessories) makes it quick — clip it to the headstock and tune each string to pitch.

For regular players, every few months keeps things bright; lighter players can go longer. If a string sounds dull or won't hold pitch, it's time. Replacement sets for every model are in the Strings collection.

Keep it in its Boondocker gig bag when you're not playing, away from extremes of heat, cold, and humidity. Wipe the strings and body down after playing. These instruments are built to travel — just treat them like you would any fine wood instrument.
