A Dinnertime Picnic in November

With the temperatures soaring nearly 20-degrees above normal and much colder temperatures on the horizon, we decided to take the opportunity to spend one last evening on the riverwalk. Typically we’ll head down to Washington Street for dinner, often winding up at Potbelly’s. This evening, Suzy packed us a “dinnertime picnic” and so we ate at a table in one of the numerous gazebos overlooking the river.

Following dinner, and a brief game of “tag” between Annalise and Sean, the family headed down to our favorite spot to feed the duckies. Perhaps the geese have already flown south for the winter as there were only ducks around — which was a great thing as the geese tend to be much more aggressive and “crowding.” Afterward, we ran around the “labyrinth” for a bit then loaded up into the wagon and headed back.

It was truly a lovely evening.

Happy Halloween!

Pumpkins for Grandma

Yesterday Mommy and Aunt Bethie took Annalise and Sean back to Kuiper’s Family Farm for more apples (yum!) and another photo shoot in the pumpkin patch. Annalise and Sean picked these two pumpkins out to bring home. Today, Annalise wanted to decorate the pumpkins with stickers. As she was decorating the big one, she said that “this one is for Grandma”.

When she was done, she said she needed one for Papa, so she decorated the small one for Grandpa. She was very happy with her work (she even let Sean help, a little) and said “they are going to be so happy when they come home”.

It Must Be Fall

Last weekend, Grandma and Grandpa Jaromin paid us a visit…and unfortunately brought along the remnants of Tropical Storm Lowell and Hurricane Ike with them. Nonstop rains and regional flooding meant a weekend spent indoors. We therefore decided to spend as much of the last weekend of the Summer outdoors. One of our favorite Sept/Oct. destinations is Kuipers Family Farm in Maple Park, IL. So, after a very hot and therefore very short, Saturday morning spent at Johansen Farms in Bolingbrook, we decided to head out a bit farther to Kuipers. We invited our niece Keara along for the trip - the kids had a great time. I’m sure we’ll be back again soon!

This year’s family portrait at Kuipers…

Here’s Keara “washing pumpkins” with Annalise and Sean.

Here’s “Farmer Sean” working the fields

These sheep and goats really swarmed…we had to stay close to keep them from knocking him over. Sean loved petting and feeding the animals.

Potty Time!!!

After many a “dry” run, Annalise finally achieved success on this monumental milestone! (Although I don’t think she was nearly as excited as Mommy was) Here’s hoping this is just the beginning.

What a Big Girl

Annalise is definitely not a baby anymore. She graduated to a “big girl bed” today after boycotting her crib for the past 2 weeks! She goes around singing ABC’s and can count to 13 consistently. She is such a good big sister to Sean.

Look who’s two!

img_5029.JPGAnnalise is getting to be such a big girl now! She weighed in at 29lbs at her 2 year doctor’s appointment. She better watch out, Sean is catching up to her quick! She definitely knows exactly what she wants (”Mama’s turn” or “Daddy’s turn” when it’s time to get out of the car seat, high chair, etc) and she’s not afraid to tell you. She is getting so smart too. She can count to 10 and is recognizing letters in her alphabet puzzles. She just amazes us every day with what she knows.

Merry Christmas everybody!

Annalise definitely “gets” the idea of Christmas now. She recognizes Santa and says (or whispers) “Ho, Ho, Ho”. She had a great time when we went to Buffalo on the 21st to celebrate Christmas early with Daddy’s side of the family. She loved playing with and chasing all of her cousins. I don’t know if Grandma and Grandpa’s house will be the same! We made it back home (despite plane delays and lots of turbulence) to celebrate Christmas in Naperville with Mommy’s side of the family. Annalise’s eyes grew wide and all she could say was “WOW” when she came downstairs Christmas morning and saw the gingerbread house Daddy decorated and all of the presents Santa left. Annalise and Sean love playing with all of the toys that they received from family, friends and Santa. Everyone was so generous.
